Original 20th Century JAMES VANDERZEE Style Photograph of African American Men
ORIGINAL JAMES VANDERZEE STYLE PHOTOGRAPH OF A GROUP OF AFRICAN AMERICAN GENTLEMEN This is just a great original piece. I recently acquired a collection of photographs from important African American photographer Calvin Littlejohn. Littlejohn was known for his important work documenting African American life in San Antonio Texas in the mid 20th Century. I acquired a few photographs of Martin Luther's King trip to San Antonio by Littlejohn that I am not sure I am going to sell yet (if you might be interested, reach out). This is a wonderful early 20th Century photograph of a group of well dressed African American gentlemen. Actually when I saw the photograph, I thought it must be by Vanderzee but would have no idea of confirming as there is no signature on the image. It really looks just like his work. Large gelatin silver photograph measuring 9 x 13 1/4 inches. Outstanding rich print in excellent condition. Verso has remnants of paper from an attached backing. Really just a wonderful photograph.
