VERY RARE ANTIQUE Cabinet Card Photo of Young African American Boy, Greenwood, Mississippi, c.1890 DESCRIPTION: Very rare, early cabinet photo of young African American boy, nice details visible of his clothes and yard/alley in background. Scans show it all. Very cute young face. Good early antique photos of African Americans are scarce and hard to find today. Obviously the number taken was small to start with given the cost of photography, etc., and many of these did not survive over the years. This one is no newer than 1890 or so. Standard cabinet photo size and dimensions. This format was common at the time. Would make a great gift for the collectors in your family. Excellent condition overall. This came with a collection of early photos of African American subjects. Some are cabinet photos, identified with photographer names. All that are photo-identified are from various towns in Mississippi, including Greenwood). I am sure this one is also by a photographer in Mississippi, and possibly Greenwood.
