Go to Sleep My Dusky Baby - by Frank R. Rix 1915 (American-African Music)
Offered is a antique 1915 sheet music - 'Go To Sleep My Dusky Baby' - by Frank R. Rix. I was not able to find much on the biography of Frank R. Rix other than he did write songs for school anthems. There are a number of his school song books listed on Ebay and other sites. I was able to find an archival recording of this song for anyone who might be interested. http://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/matrix/detail/700001343/B-16348-Go_to_sleep_my_dusky_baby This song ties in around the Harlem Renaissance era of music. It's not jazz, but is consider to be a lullaby. It was considered to be a 'popular' piece of music during its time. it was published by G. Schirmer . Overall, this multi-sheet is in good to very good condition for its age. I have had it in my collection for over 50 years. Originally my grandmother had it with some sheet music she collected. The front sheet has some stamp marks: ' Solomon' and 'Boston Music Co. - West St.'. There are no pen or pencil writings or scribbles on the inner pages. The inner seams are intact; however, the top sheet is not. I did NOT add tape...center is intact seam. The music is for piano and voice. The musical score is an adaption from Dvorak's "Humoreske". The paper does have some yellowing from age, so it's a lovely ivory color with the bold two-tone coffer-brown border trim. It covers a number of genres for collectors. This is a classic Americana piece of sheet music with ties to African-American music and cultures of the early 1900s. I will place some cardboard in the mailing envelope to prevent folding of the package. I use new and clean material for all items I ship.I will combine S&H on multiple purchase. ** Please alert me if purchasing more than one antique music score so I can adjust the final billing price. Any other questions, please contact seller. Thank you for looking.
