Rare artifact ~ 1917 TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL ELECTION SILK RIBBON ~ Vote The Independent Ticket. 5 7/8" X 1 1/2" in poor condition, torn and partially attached to a card. From the scrapbook of George Lorenzo Brashaer. Note: Brashear graduated from Tuskegee University in 1917. In addition to being an accomplished trombonist, Brashear was football and track star at Tuskegee. After graduation he performed on Mississippi river boats alongside young Louis Armstrong in the Fate Marable Orchestra. He then went to New York and recorded with Ethel Waters, Fletcher Henderson and many other blues/jazz singers. He toured Europe in the mid - late 1920's performing with Sam Wooding, Nobel Sissle, Valaida Snow and others.
